New Software 30/01/2025

My BT Pro Box has just updated to a new software. Component 4.2.16 and Manufacture Software 0.12.92.  I can't see any obvious changes though.

Re: New Software 30/01/2025

I’ve had this for a while now as I check for updates daily. I don’t think you can get an update until your box is at the front of the queue though. I’ve got no idea what’s new with this update either.

@Brucemeister5 @Bluemoon1

YouView never used to say what was in their updates, though quite often they would say “There are no customer-facing features in this release”. Sometimes, they would just make changes preparatory to a new feature, and roll those out in advance of the new feature, to check they hadn’t broken anything separate from what was in the actual new feature.

Also, updates would be staggered over a few weeks, rather than released to everybody all at once. The order in which peoples’ boxes would be updated was hotly debated, but we never found out what the rules were.

When an update is released to your box, it normally takes place overnight. If you check for updates during the time it is released to your box before the overnight update, then the box will pull it in for you.

But this does mean that the absolute most that checking for updates manually will gain you is 23 hours 59 minutes 😛

Re: New Software 30/01/2025

@Midnight_Voice @Bluemoon1 I’ve found that our Pro tv box seems to pick up updates from mid-afternoon onwards. I remember when I checked for an eagerly anticipated update last year when we arrived home from a shopping trip. Mr Dev told me that it had only just been released when I posted about it on here. He thought that I must’ve been checking for it all day, but I just struck lucky!

Re: New Software 30/01/2025

@Brucemeister5 I think I may have discovered what's new.  The NOW UI has had a makeover.

This may shed some light on it..

Yes I usually check early evening and if there is an update it will do the update then..

On the home page I think they have added a 6th app icon along the top advertising programmes.

Re: New Software 30/01/2025

Hi @Bluemoon1 @Brucemeister5 @mrrobotxyz

This update contains a few minor bug fixes that should be imperceptible. There are also a couple of small UI improvements, for example content titles that were previously truncating due to being too long will now scroll/marquee on the home page when selected.

Thanks!

Re: New Software 30/01/2025

It used to be that most Youview release started at 16:30.  When youview used to announce most updates on the release date I had an alert setup to their announcements and could initiate a download that day but it only ever worked for me from 16:30.

There was also a time when Steven gave some cryptic clues about something happening in advance, and within one of those clues as the a time of 16:30,, but a comment he gave after wards indicated that had not been guaranteed.

Re: New Software 30/01/2025

We went onto 4.2.22 - 0.12.92 yesterday afternoon. We’re still with BT broadband, but I believe those with EE broadband may receive different updates now. I noticed that within the NOW app the notice about Ultra Boost when you go into the NOW EPG has disappeared. I haven’t really had time to notice anything else so far.
