Pixelation on Film 4 channel 14

For the past few weeks we can’t watch films on Film 4.  Pixelation and flickering and error code YVM 302.

any suggestions? We’ve done all the obvious.

Re: Pixelation on Film 4 channel 14

First thoughts would be to suspect an aerial/reception issue affecting the multiplex that Film 4 is broadcast on.

If in aerial mode you would have an alternative in watching the timeshifted channel Film4+1.

You could swtch to IP mode if this is on your Box Pro.

You could  try watching via an aerial feed into your TV.

You could use the 4 app on other devices  and view the live channel Film 4  stream

Re: Pixelation on Film 4 channel 14

When we had the T4000 back in the day it became unwatchable because of this. Not so much on the pro box. Either way you're best bet is to throw a firestick into the tv as a back up. We do this to watch Disney and Now UHD and bizarrely never a issue with pixelation

Re: Pixelation on Film 4 channel 14

You can check the freeview site to see if there are any issues with broadcasting the channel in the area.
I would perhaps retune the channels on the TV box and see if this helps, settings - TV channels - Retune TV channels

If you have another TV in the home just using an aerial - if this has an issue as well likely to be an aerial issue, if not it will would be something with the box, which the retune would likely fix if not would perhaps need an engineer to come out to either replace the box or make other changes.  If you don't have another TV it can be a little trickier to get the bottom of which is which but technical support can help you work it out (They did with me and I needed a new aerial which BT organised for £30.00 which was a bargain)

Re: Pixelation on Film 4 channel 14

Thanks for that, I’ll dig out our little tv and check it out. Good plan.
I do think it’s the box though.
I spoke to BT today and they’re sending another one out anyway., tho we don’t want to lose all our recordings ( again!)

@SewS

Go into settings on the box & check the signal strength & quality on the Film4 channel.

The tuners on the BT boxes are nowhere near as good as on normal TVs and can suffer from a poor signal strength or an overly strong one.

Ideally quality should be 100% and strength 80-90%.

Re: Pixelation on Film 4 channel 14

When we did this it showed really poor results - 18% at times for signal / picture quality.

presumably the new box they send will be just as dodgy 🙁
