An absolute carbon copy of what's happened to me.
Stopped recording a week last Tuesday though i didn't notice until friday when i went to watch something that should have been recorded that tuesday night.
Plenty of space left, over 50%
I can watch stuff of the planner
All other buttons work blue light comes on when record button is pressed
Just will not record.
I'm no good with stuff like this, my son done a factory reset, to no avail.
Help i really need this sorted
@stumpy3 Welcome to the community and thanks for posting, I'm sorry you're having problems using the record function on your BT TV box, it sounds like the hard drive may have developed a fault. I'll send you a private message so you can get in touch with the moderation team but if this is urgent you can also get help from the TV support team on this link.
Thanks
Neil
Thanks for the reply Neil.
If indeed it is a problem with the hard drive, what is the procedure now
If you can play recordings but can't record them then this suggests a software problem rather than a hard drive error.
You may have to perform a total reset on the box and lose any recordings.
thanks kry77 for the reply.
To be honest it's all double dutch to me, i just need to get some information how to get the ball rolling to get this sorted out.
If your son did a factory reset, there won’t be any recordings left. If you still have recordings, then he didn’t do that.
But if he did, and you still can’t record, your box is kaput.
It might be possible to get it working again with a replacement hard drive, but if BT are going to replace the whole box for you, that’s the best option to go with.
Thanks midnight voice.
He did do the reset but it was the one where you keep your recordings.
I honestly don't mind him doing the other one and the recordings go if it would be certain to put the problem right but i know my wife has some stuff on there that she would hate to see go.
Unfortunately you always seem to lose your recordings 🤷🏻♂️
I've lost them about five times over the past six years 😂
I'd watch what you can and then do the complete reset and see if that happens, if not BT will replace the box for you.
Just make sure they send the right box 😂
OK, we don’t call that a Factory Reset. BT might, but if so, that muddies the waters 😢
But it was certainly worth him trying thar reset for you.
Though usually, the inability to record indicates hard disc corruption, and only a full Factory Reset can clear that.
If your wife has stuff she wants to watch, see if you can get her to watch it now, so you can try the Factory Reset when she’s done that.
If she has stuff she wants to keep, however, that’s more tricky, but there are ways round it.
Thanks for the replies guys .
Looks like i will have to go for the full reset and go from there
