Stick with BT Broadband or switch to EE Broadband

I currently have BT broadband and I receive about 65 - 70 mbps. I was looking at adding EE TV to my BT broadband package as my Sky Q contract has recentley ended and the full works deal with EE TV offers much better value. As I was looking at adding this to my current BT broadband I was prompted to consider changing to EE broadband as well. On checking, the speed they are offering is no different, so why would I swap and will I be forced to change in the future. I ask as the service from BT has always been excellent.

Re: Stick with BT Broadband or switch to EE Broadband

@vandenolan

All BT retail customers are being moved to the EE brand either at re-contract or at some point, probably forcibly.

The actual service is almost identical under the hood, they are both part of BT Group and use the same infrastructure, with some slight differences in services (things you might get included with BT, may be add-ons with EE).

If you are moving from Sky for TV then I recommend reading through some of the posts on the EE Community about others that have made the move and regretted it.

The EE TV experience is nothing like what you get with Sky. Often, most are best served leaving Sky or giving notice on TV and then getting a significant win back offer.

It just depends what you want or need from your TV service. BT/EE broadband kit and service is (in my experience), far more reliable and has more features than comparable Sky hardware.

Both providers are going to want a 2 year contract either way, Sky still haven't told anyone what they intend to charge for annual price increases, for BT/EE you are agreeing to £3 for broadband and £2 per month for TV annual increases every March.

Re: Stick with BT Broadband or switch to EE Broadband

@vandenolan We renewed with BT at the end of March and insisted on sticking with BT broadband as EE broadband are not able to offer us any improvement on the speed that we were getting with BT. You don’t have to move to EE if you don’t want to at the moment. There have been several nightmare experiences from those that did and regretted it retold on here.

Have you been offered Full Works at the standard price or at a discount? I don’t think I would ever pay the full standard price for it, but we are on a heavily discounted price ( for the entire length of the contract), and we’re happy with that as it suits our needs. If you are seriously considering switching from Sky, don’t assume that everything works in the same way. @Anonymous offers you very sound advice there. There have been a few people on here who’ve not done their research properly and have come unstuck by thinking switching to EETV will save them ££££s.

Re: Stick with BT Broadband or switch to EE Broadband

Thanks for your reply. Just by chance I got contacted by Sky this afternoon and they have offered me a deal even better than my original contract which has recently finished. Taking on board what both have you have said I accepted the new deal and I'm staying with Sky Q.

Thanks once again for your reply👍
