YouView Box red light comes back overnight after a software reset.

Hi

I have a BT YouView box / Humax 500Gb (owned) that has now a red light on the fascia. It is also a little slower to respond to remote presses.  At one point the picture would break-up for half a second or so and a loud audio crack.

I reset the software, reinstalled the software and reset the whole box (but kept recordings) through the maintenance mode.  This restores the software, and it is the latest, and this gets rid of the red light. But if I leave the box overnight the red light returns.   Software:3.7.108.   man. software 32.53.0  updated 25/1/22

Is there a way to diagnose if this is a hardware failure?

Is the latest software buggy and causing this?

What is the way to check if this is a hard drive failure?

Shall I throw it and buy a replacement?

A single red light means it's in deep sleep/energy saver standby. So least energy consumed but takes a while to start up. Possibly defaulted to this mode when you reset. You can change the options in the settings menu.

Thanks - It is currently in Smart energy mode (recommended).  I had not seen the red light kicking in often before.

The new Pro Box has a schedule for deep sleep, might be worth checking if the 2100 has that too.
