Re: Youview DTR T2100 box froze, and now won't power on

If there's no activity at all then it could be something as simple as a faulty rocker switch on the back.

Cheers. That would certainly make sense - it was the last thing I touched (to switch it off for a reboot) before it stopped working.

Do you think that could be fixed or replaced?

That's one of those Yes & No questions I'm Afraid.

Yes it is easy enough to change if you have the necessary skills but finding a suitable replacement might not be so easy.

If you're under contract then BT will replace the box free of charge.

The power supply units are known to fail, so its worth trying a suitable spare if you have one.

Re: Youview DTR T2100 box froze, and now won't power on

Hi Tim,

My wife was very upset when our BT YouView+ Box DTR-T2100 was stuck in standby and she unplugged it to reset it and it never came back on.

Having served my time for many years as an electrical service engineer repairing TV,Video,DVD,HiFi,Game console's and Desktop PC's I was pretty sure what was wrong with this and probably had the component to easily fix this.

Upon opening the box I found an electrolytic capacitor 220uf 16v near where you plug in the 12v PSU (power supply) and replaced it with a spare one that I had. Unfortunately I only had a 50v Cap which will be fine in this case but will take a little longer to power up but will last much longer than the one I replaced.

The wife did confirm that she thought it was not coming on at first but was very pleased when it did.

Happy wife = Quiet life for me :)=
