Unfortunately you haven't stated much detail concerning the recorder, or the issue. It would help if you would supply more detail of the issue, and which remote and recorder you have.
You state "the big power button at the top".
This suggests that your remote is one of the BT slim line remotes. Pease confirm or clarify.
You state "I have a BT tv remote but the three button trick does not reset my remote.".
Please confirm what happens on the attempted rest.
Please also explain why you believe that a reset has not occurred.
You state " only a few buttons then cause the light to turn on. ".
Please explain. E.g. Which light turns on? Is it a light on the remote or a light on the recorder?
Also which reorder do you have?
