watching TV on mobile app

An I missing something or is it not possible to select an item from the TV guide on the mobile app and watch it?  I have paired my phone and my tablet to my BT TV Pro box but cannot for the life of me figure out how to do this. 

Also same question for the Windows BT TV app

Basically no. You should be able to download the Freeview app to watch some live Freeview channels other channels can be accessed through their own apps. So NowTV for Sky channels, BT Sport for BT Sport... AMC is available through the BT TV app though but that's about it...

So the BT TV app is next to useless?!

Can the app be used to play recordings from the box on your mobile or tablet?

@WelshDave it's pretty much useless... Only really any use as a TV guide and for setting recordings.

It used to carry the subscription channels on the old legacy packs but you could never watch Freeview channels on it for carriage rights reasons... 

Download the relevant apps and you can also access all the On Demand content.

Wifey is going to be disappointed as we had SKY for TV previously and the Windows based app is really good and she used it on the PC in our kitchen of an evening instead of coming downstairs
