Adding BT Mail to Third-Party Email App

Go to solution

Hi all. I've recently been trying to add my BT Email Address to third-party email applications (BlueMail, Thunderbird, Windows 10 Mail) with little to no success. I've tried almost everything online, with regards to correct ports and domains, but they still refuse to log in. I have also seen this could be because I'm not on a premium email account. Could this be correct? Cheers!

if you are no longer a BT Broadband customer then you probably have basic email and cannot access using an app only web mail

I am a BT broadband customer, in fact I only moved to a faster package a couple of weeks ago. So should I be able to access it via an app?

I have the BT Mail app on my phone, which works perfectly, along with the web browser on my PC. Yet whenever I try using Thunderbird or Bluemail, it says it can't log in.

@CRex

I access BT Mail via T'Bird and this is my server settings, hope it helps.

Anything else just ask.

The correct and only setting for BTMail are as per this link.

https://www.bt.com/help/email/manage-email-account/manual-settings/what-are-the-settings-for-outgoin...

When setting it up you are best to do it manually rather than letting the set up wizard do it.

check your imap settings

Re: Adding BT Mail to Third-Party Email App

IMAP.pngOkay, I've followed the instructions but Bluemail is still giving me an error message saying "Setup could not finish" when I try entering them manually, or "cannot connect to server" when I try it automatically. I've attached a screenshot of the settings showing they are absolutely correct.

This makes no sense as I was previously able to use my BT email with BlueMail but since reinstalling it, it's refusing to let me add it to the client.
