Automatic redirection? Please Help.

Go to solution

I have 2 BT email addresses and until today all emails received by the secondary email (B) were redirected to the primary email address (A) and the system worked well.

This doesn't seem to be happening now and I missed a potentially vital email. I haven't altered anything.

Is this something I need to set up every year? Please tell me how I can set this up again?

The help pages are useless with no search facility, with just one or two suggestions that don't apply to my issue.

You can either set up your secondary email account to forward all incominh emails to your primary account or you can add your secondary email account to your primary account which will allow you to access your secondary email account once you have logged onto your primary account.

To forward emails from secondary to primary log on to secondary and go to the settings found by clicking on your username at the top right.

Once there go to "Mail" in the left hand column and select "Auto Forward" then tick the box "Enable Auto Forward" . Enter the email address of your primary email account in to the "Destination" box then click "Save".

Any emails that are sent to your secondary email account will now be forwarded to your primary account.

To add you secondary account to your primary account go to settings as mentioned above then go to "Mail" then "Accounts" in the left hand column.

Click on "Add" . Follow the prompts and add your secondary email address and password. If the system does not automatically add the other details the one you need are in the following link.

BT Email server settings | BT Help

Once everything is entered click save.

You will now find that if you scroll down the left hand side where your folders are you will see your secondary email account at the foot of that column below "Other Accounts". To access it just click on it and it will appear. To go back to your primary account just click on your "My Account" at the top of the column or click on "Mail" in the purple menu bar at the top of the page.

Thank you so much for answering. I'm so grateful. I spent ages searching for the answer before I saw your reply.

The BT 'Help' pages are hopeless unless you ask one or two specific questions you get stuck in an endless loop and  there's no 'search' facility. Quite bizarre and against the grain of the normal  'check online' ! Google is out of date suggesting that 'settings'  is across the top purple bar?
