Yes, I'm afraid this is yet another example of the shambles BT is making of migrating their domestic customers to EE.
I fear you'll need to keep on at BT, maybe escalating to a formal complaint, before you'll get the premium service with no cost to you - which is what you're entitled to as a previous BT customer

Maybe they've upped their game....

At 9.37pm I received a text from 'Stewart' at BT, telling me they'd restored my email access.

And they have!  It seems to be working now.  Apart from the initial problem, I can't criticize that for service.
