Email text not wrapping

I have noticed that some of the emails I receive, the text does not wrap but jut continues way off to the right of the email.

I assume this is a problem with the sender, but is there any way I can make it wrap?

Re: Email text not wrapping

Are you sing Rich Text or Plain Text in your email account?

If you are not sure you should log onto your email account and go to the settings by clicking on your username at the top right.

Once there click on "Mail" in the left hand column then check that the box beside "Compose Messages in Rich Text" is selected. If it is not selected tick the box then save and recheck the email to see if that has helped.

If it already selected it may be that the person sending you the email is using Plain Text and is not being formatted because you are using Rich Text. To check if that is the case untick the box and click save then open the email to see if that helps.

Re: Email text not wrapping

Dear gg30340, I have this problem too and I don't understand your solution. The switch between Rich and Plain text is in "Compose", not in "Read", i.e. it is about sending, not receiving . I often get emails, in particular from people using i-phones, where the text does not wrap and is 3-screens wide. Is there a way to get BT email to make text in received emails conform to my screen size? I have just loaded a received email that is all-text and is 3-screens wide, gone into "compose" and switched back and forth between "Rich Text" and "Plain Text", and that makes no difference to how my received emails appear. I can find no menu with a switch when I am reading my received emails. The place I would have expected to find it is in the "View" menu. It might be called "Fit to screen width", or similar, akin to "Fit to Page Width" in a print menu.

Re: Email text not wrapping

Mr Mole

Exactly - that is the problem.  Had another mail like it today.  The line goes on and on.

We need a "Wrap text" option.

Thanks for your comment.

Regards

Alan

Re: Email text not wrapping

There is no "wrap text" option that you can change.

Webmail should change automatically to the fit the size of screen that you are using.

Does the problem happen with all emails or only ones from the same sender(s)?

If the same sender is it will all emails received from that sender(s)?

Have you reported the isue to the sender to see if others have reported similar problems to the sender?

Have you checked the zoom setting on your browser in case it is not correct for the size of screen you are using?

Have you tried a different browser to see if it is a browser issue\setting?

How are you viewing the email. Is it with a single click opening the email or a double click in a new page?

Re: Email text not wrapping

Hi gg30340,

I have a 32" monitor ste to a screen res of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

It happens in MS Edge and in Firefox. It happens to most emails from some senders.

I open an email with a single click on it in my in-box.

Both my browsers display other web pages normally, i.e. matching my available screen width, so I don't think it is a browser settings issue.

I also get a lot of marketing emails from retailers which have quite a lot of complex screen content / graphics / images and they all respect the boundaries of my visible screen, adjust their wrapping if i open a side-bar, etc.

The issue seems to be with plain text.

I hope that helps your consideration of the issue.

Re: Email text not wrapping

@MrMole

Having carried out a few tests it would appear that the issue is because the sending emails are in Plain Text rather than Rich Text and the BTMail system is not adjusting the plain formatting as it should.

If you want to test and confirm this you could try and have the senders change their email formatting to Rich Text.

Meanwhile I will advise the moderators of the issue so that they can make the email team aware of the problem however I doubt anything will be done to fix it.
