For reasons too complicated to go into, I've had to use a new BT email address. I've added it to my phone but it appears that BT no longer supports POP3.
This means that if I delete from my phone, I lose the emails everywhere - including Outlook.
On my old BT email - which is POP3 - I can delete emails from my phone without losing them everywhere else. That is my ideal.
I can't find a setting on Outlook to keep emails on server.
So, am I just doomed to have to remember not to delete emails from my phone? Or does anybody know a workaround?
Thanks.

BT does support POP3, I use it.
It is perhaps your device that doesn't give you the option.
Hi
Thanks - I use POP3 on the old account, but when I try to set up the new account I just get:
Couldn't verify account
pop3.btinternet.com isn't responding. You can continue the setup process, but you won't be able to send or receive emails until your account has been verified.
And I'm stuck there. Maybe it's a call to BT after all. 👍
To set up an account in Outlook using POP3 enter the email address you want to connect to and click on "Advanced options" and switch on "Let me set up my account manually" before clicking "Connect."
This will open the "Advanced setup" panel. Click the POP option and enter the POP settings as per the following link and click "Next. Make sure you tick the box to keep emails on the server.
Enter your password and click "Connect."
Hmmm...
I'm already set up in Outlook, no problem - but it's IMAP.
There doesn't b seem to be an option to swap it - and I'm not sure I trust closing it and resetting it and not losing everything I've got.
It's the damned phone that's a PITA!
Thanks.
You can't switch from IMAP to POP3 on the fly. The account has to be deleted and recreated.
That's what I thought - thanks for confirming.
I'm just not sure whether I trust deleting and recreating not to lose lots of stuff. (There's no reason why it should, but I'm not very trusting - I have history... 😉)
If the account is IMAP, everything will be on the server, deleting the account on a device will have no effect.
I know that's the theory and I should just do it - but I've had bad experiences with things disappearing in the past. Only a couple of times, but it stays with you. 🙄
Just log onto your email account using a browser. If the emails are there then they will be downloaded when you set up the POP3 account. Just make sure that you have the "keep on server" box ticked when you set it up.
If you are not prepared to do that there is is nothing further that the forum can do for you and I fail to see the point of you posting.
