Error 553 - not a problem before, but it is now

For the past week or so the vast majority of emails I try and send - particularly with photo's or links won't send due to error 553.  I've looked through the discussions and it seems it's been a problem for many people for some time.  I've never had a problem until now.

I don't use VPN, the emails are regular emails nothing untoward.  What's strange is if I send the emails via the iphone mail app. it's not a problem, the problem seems to be with the webmail (I think that's what it's called - sending using my laptop and the BT email login page).

It's driving me mad to the point where I want to ditch BT.  I'm out of contract and am seriously thinking of looking elsewhere.

I could understand if the issue was with incoming mail but it's not, it's emails I want to send and some of them are important.

Are there any fixes for this?  I've looked through previous posts and can't see any.  I'm not a techie so any responses - laymans terms please!

There is only one fix, and that is to stop using BTinternet for email and use something else like Gmail. Do NOT use any ISP email, so if you move ISPs - still use Gmail.

As you've said, error 553 has been around for a very long time and BT will not do anything about it. They refuse to properly investigate this problem and consider each person as unique and see it as a new fault each time. It doesn't matter that some reported problems may have a slightly different cause - there will be an underlying fault.

Alternatively, you might fix this by using an email client on your computer rather than BT's webmail. This should behave similalrly to your iPhone's mail app.
