Manually adding my btinternet account to my iPhone, I am not given the option to choose IMAP and it is setting up as POP. I can't see any settings on the iPhone to change it to IMAP, can anyone help please?
When I delete emails using the iPhone they are not deleting for the server and I have to delete them again from Webmail or MacBook Apple Mail client.

@licquorice that's a different situation and does not help me. A brief read of that thread would have revealed that the poster there is using IMAP, whereas I cannot find an option to change to it.
It's exactly the same situation, you clearly didn't read the whole thread
