Re: New Email system marking spam emails as phishing

It is not a who, it is a computer which deals with and filters items that are marked as spam and those that get marked as not spam.

If you want it to be sent to "dealt" with you should send it to BT's phishing email address which is phishing@bt.com

New Email system marking spam emails as phishing
The selected email(s) will be reported as phishing and moved to the spam folder. Continue?
Original question: When using this option who receives the report of this activity. Please clarify: By marking the email as "phishing" is there anything generated to automatically onward report it as phishing to either to BT, the UK government phishing dept etc., or does nothing happen apart from it being moved into my Spam folder.

Also the link you provided is for suspect emails purporting to originate from BT.
Most spam/phishing emails I am referring to are from Hotmail, Gmail, Outlook for foreign domains.

BT will not divulge how they deal with spam or phishing emails further than what is posted in their link.

If you want to ensure it gets to a Government Agency see link.

Re: New Email system marking spam emails as phishing

I already forward them to report@phishing.gov.uk.

Can I see the official response from BT if a question has been asked of them regarding my query.

Re: New Email system marking spam emails as phishing

Sorry, I thought that this forum raised the issues with BT on behalf of the Community and that by your response you had further information.
I will make an enquiry and see if I can get confirmation what actually happens when you mark an email as phishing.
I would have liked some advice from the Community as to who within BT would have the technical ability to answer this query
No solution currently available for this query.

I will be extremely surprised if you manage to get an answer. Is there a particular reason for wishing to know?

Re: New Email system marking spam emails as phishing

This is a BT customer to customer help forum.  I am a customer just like you as are all the other posters on this forum.

The links that I posted are freely available on the BT Help pages and anything else is what I have learned over the years of posting on this forum.

BT, in line with most ISPs do not normally give out information regarding security or how they deal with spam or phishing other than what is posted on their help pages as this could obviously help spammers etc.

If you call BT Customer Service 0330.1234.150 they may be able to assist you.
