No email notification sounds on phone

Recently my phone has stopped notification sounds on both of my BTinternet email accounts. I get WhatsApp and Messenger sounds as normal. It's only BT email that stopped. I have checked all the usual notification settings and even did a restore from a saved backup, nothing helps. Am I right in assuming it is a weird fault with the phone (Samsung Galaxy A40) or has anyone else had this problem with BT email?

Edit: I am using the BT email app.

Uninstall the BT app and install Blue Mail instead.

The reason that reply is useful and it is posted all over the forum is because the BTMail app is a very poor excuse for an email app.  It seems to lurch from one problem to the next as can be seen on the forum but of course it is your choice if you want to keep using it.
