Your issue seems to be very unique. Are you trying to log into your BT Email at https://www.bt.com/mybt? Is it trying to send you your 8 digit security pin?

Yes, got fed-up waiting for BT to answer the phone ( waiting time 68 minutes) They're having a laugh ...so went to bed.
Woke up this morning and it's sorted...
Why don't they test new software rollouts before making themselves look like chumps...

I hate to say this about my old employer but they are IDIOTS , we had to go through the same silly two step authentication process for the second day, this time it worked again , just like my episode the other day...
I would like to re-itterate..
BT WHY DONT YOU TEST ANY CHANGES BEFORE YOU IMPLEMENT THEM ??????
No wonder you are losing customers, just a little old-fashioned common sense would help..
