It's exactly the same as standard mail. Don't forget BT mail has had an 'upgrade'.
The User Interface, the look and how you use it, that BTMail uses was changed a few months back so it may be just that is what you are seeing.
However to check what email type you have you will need to log onto your MyBT and then go to "Your Products" then "Email, manage" then look at the email type that will be showing at the top of the page. It should show standard.
I have moved your posts onto the one thread.
Please do not post the same issue on different threads. All it does is cause repeat answers.
Without having to repeat everything that has already been posted about the "upgrade" have a read of the following threads and the many other threads in the email section of the forum.
Webmail migration update - BT Community
BT Webmail Feedback v2 (post 16th April release) - BT Community
BT Webmail Work Arounds. - BT Community
Just looked and it says 'Ceased Account' and a second email address 'Due to be downgraded'
If it states "Due to be downgraded" it means that you are presently on the Standard account.
If it does eventually show "Basic" post back for further assistance.
EDIT: If you only access your BTMail email account on a web browser, you will not see any difference between a Basic and Standard account.
If you use your email with an email app or email client, this will only work with the Standard account. BTMail Basic can not be used with a email client/app.

Doesn't feel like an upgrade, more keystrokes, text running off end of page, sent emails taking time to leave account, search engine for emails is so different that it takes more keystrokes....so how has it been upgraded!?
That's why I put 'upgrade' in inverted commas.
