Why can't BT identify spam pretending to be BT?

For some time now and on only one of by BT email accounts, I am receiving a large amount of spam masquerading as BT.  It seems odd to me that BT can't identify these as Spam.

Re: Why can't BT identify spam pretending to be BT?

Hello Anne,

I think a lot of people are facing the same problem , but it's not BT fault , it's the filter company fault , to let those emails go directly into your inbox (also the people who are sending those spam emails).
But at the same time , I think BT can stop it very easily by limiting the number of sending emails from external IP's , or at least reduce the amount of those emails by understanding how those spammers really work , I've tried to contact every admin on the platform about this matter , and that I have a solution to reduce the spam amount , but still no respond.

Thank you but I'm not sure what you mean by 'the filter company'?

The third party company providing the spam filtering algorithms.

Thank you, I didn't know that.

But interesting that this is the only spam I get on this BT email account - at least one a day and all 'pretending' to be BT.  To a layperson like me, astonishing.

To be fair, spam filtering is not an easy task and is not as simple as folks think. However, BT's spam filtering is not one of the best.

@annecrowther to help us fight the scammers, I'd recommend that you forward the email to our dedicated mailbox - phishing@bt.com - then delete the email

Thanks
Neil

Thanks Neil.  I'll do that.  Until the novelty wears off.
