Why is the new BT email website so poor and constantly crashing?

I have been with BT broadband and email for many years .

I have since the new website design .. Which I find awful ,clunky and not user friendly , had constant issue with BT email website itself.

I am constantly asked to log in 2 times and then do a silly are you a bot click pictures which are barely viewable !

This happens most times I log in . I am asked to enter my user email and click next , then re enter my user email and a password , then do the bot check, Occasionally the bot check is just click I am not a bot without pictures quiz!

Very rarely, I am just sent straight to me email page with no entries at all!

However, the biggest issue is the constant crashing once I compose emails and the refusal to save them or send the with an apology pop up . It just freezes "we are experiencing issues please try later!"

This is near constant recently.

Add in the stupid cursor keeps jumping back to the start of the email issue I have seen elsewhere, then I am close to quitting BT broadband and email as it is untenable unless someone can assist in resolving these issues or BT actually writes a better website .

Is there a BT person or knowledgeable forum member who might be able to assist please?

Many thanks

Re: Why is the new BT email website so poor and constantly crashing?

@assybish10  - Personally I would use an email client, of which there are quite a few to choose from. Following a recommendation from one of the forum's highly respected moderators, I switched to Mozilla Thunderbird and, after nearly 3 years, I am glad I did.

This looks after 3 our BT email addresses and those from other providers such as gmail without any problem whatsoever and whar's more, is completely free though I often contribute a few £££s now and again.

Others may favour different email client providers.

Thank you for your reply .. Basically you are confirming that I should dump BT .. so It seems that's the way forwards . Like Microsoft it seems BT just don't care !

I used to use them years ago .. I use mailwasher to control emails and spam .. I really don't want to introduce a 3rd party additional program .

It was ok .. not great , with BT mail ... but since the new website it has become terrible

Sigh, nobody is telling you to dump BT email. Just use a different method to access it.

Web browsers were never intended for email, the clue is in the name.

what is the point staying with it if it is so bad one needs a 3rd party program to use it? What do BT do with my  money ?

If I can't get back to how it was before the new website and sign in farce then I shall cancel BT broadband and take my hard earned money elsewhere .

Sigh !

I have absolutely no idea why folks insist on using a web browser for email instead of a proper tool.

You wouldn't eat soup with a fork.

Re: Why is the new BT email website so poor and constantly crashing?

Which version of BTMail are you on?

The current one is MX_3.8.0#. which has apparently fixed a lot of the issues with the BTMail webpage. To check log onto your email account and look at the details in the address bar.

Since the change in the web page, have you tried clearing the history and cookies from your web browser? If not you should do that.

How are you logging onto your email account. If it is with a short cut it could be "stale" so try using the Email button in the menu bar at the top of this page. If that works you can delete the "old" shortcut and make a new one.

Have you looked at the following link to see if any of that helps you.

https://community.bt.com/t5/Email/BT-Webmail-Work-Arounds/td-p/2353424

Have you tried using a different browser?

The best answer is to do as already suggested and use an email client.

You could of course leave BT Broadband but you will find that most ISPs no longer provide an email service so you would either need to use the BTMail Basic service which is similar to what you have or get a gmail account or some other free email service with all that that entails so if you are leaving BT purely because of the email web page you would be as well staying with BT and get a gmail account.

Re: Why is the new BT email website so poor and constantly crashing?

Thank you for the first genuinely helpful reply . I shall investigate your suggestions. I am on the latest version .... I do not wish to use a client as I have multiple accounts and also use Mailwasher .

The browser is fine .. it is BT that is the issue. I am unhappy with BT and their so called relative open reach. Our speeds are 12Mbps and BT don't care and haven't for years . So all of this is additive. I even have a large # of BT shares which I shall use to vote against the director and then dump the shares !

I have a Gmail account that I never use as it is rubbish , Gmail is by far and away the WORST email system ever! But thank you for a series of well reasoned comments .. greatly appreciated . I have a private business email that works fine on their independent server and I access on PC using outlook . I may use this and dump my personal email totally .

Re: Why is the new BT email website so poor and constantly crashing?

If you have multiple accounts from multiple providers, a mail client is even more useful as all the accounts are together in one place.

I have about a dozen email accounts from 5 different suppliers all together in one place, Outlook 2010.

If you use Outlook for business mail why on earth don't you use it for all your other mail!

You appear to be judging mail systems by their web interfaces rather than their actual mail service.

You must be using it wrong. It's been my only provider for over 10 years with zero issues.
