Accessing email

hi both kids have a BTinternet email address, whenever they are locked out, I receive an email stating please enter this code etc.

How do i or they change it so they no longer have to contact me for access to their emails as they are both adults and one lives the other side of the world? Also i may no longer have access to my emails as this is a work account (Openreach employee possibly for not much longer?) so hence the reason for the need to change.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Accessing email

They need to create their own BTid and then you need to gift them the addresses.https://www.bt.com/help/email/manage-email-account/account-set-up/how-do-i-create-and-activate-a-new...

Re: Accessing email

Make sure that they fill out in their profile the "contact details" for recovery if something goes wrong. This is what BT appear to usng for the 2FA PIN to be sent to.

They must use a different email address from the one you're gifting them and obviously their own mobile phone number.

Re: Accessing email

Not surprising as BT email is only intended to be used in the UK and is in fact in breach of the terms and conditions if used abroad.

Re: Accessing email

As per the Terms and Conditions, BTMail is to primarily be used in the UK so I would imagine that will be why it will not accept the overseas number for the recovery number.

See section 7

Email terms and conditions
