You need to log onto your MyBT and go to Your Products and check Email,Manage to see what typ of email you have. It should be "Standard".

If it is not you need to call BT Billing 0330.1234.150 and get them to change it.

The reason I asked about "Standard" in your MyBT was to ensure that you had checked and not just assumed you were still on a Standard account and the ensure that the email account is showing under "Your Products".

Has the email account worked at any time since your move to EE?

Does your email account work when using a web browser?

Has this just started and if so how long ago did it start

If only a day or so it could be a BT mail server issue and the best thing to do in that case is is do nothing. Do not change passwords or settings at this stage.

If it is a server issue you could try turning your BT hub off for about 30 minutes. When you turn it back on you should have been issued with a new IP address and hopefully attached to a different BT email server.

If none of that works you will need to call BT 0330.1234.150 and ask for the Email Team and ask them to check that your account is still an active "Standard" account.

No, hasn’t worked through “Mail App” since moving. Phoned them three times and emails linked yesterday to me new Ee account as my products and shown as rstandard.
Yes, works through browser
Started when Ee cocked up with the “seamless swap over” and moved the start date to 2nd October without telling Bt to do do the same with their cut off date bt cut me off from broadband 23 rd Sept and moved my emails automatically to basics

Having the same issue after moving from BT to EE. Standard email accounts stopped working in Apple Mail even after updating passwords and ports (993/465). Is there a new server setting or authentication step required for EE mail?

Re: Bt standard email accounts and Apple mail app.

No. The settings are the same as they were when you were with BT Broadband.

You are not on EE Mail, EE do not have an email service. You are still on BTMail provided that you migrated to EE from BT and not left BT for another provider then moved from that provider to EE.

Your BTMail should still show in your MyBT. It will not show in your MyEE.

If you check in your MyBT the email should be in "Your Products". If it does not show there you have to contact BT Email Team 0330.1234.150

If you have changed your password or any settings

The first thing to do when it happens is check to see if you can log on to your email account via a web browser. If you can there is obviously nothing wrong with your password or account hence my previous advice to do nothing.

If the problem did not resolve its self after a day or two or in your instance where you have changed your password  you should stop your Apple device and any other devices from checking for email. The easiest way of doing that is to turn them off if you still have the account on your device. If you have deleted the account and it is no longer on your device do not try and add it at this time.

Once you have done that, change your email password again and check that you can access your email via webmail (on a browser).

If that works you should wait at least an hour to allow the servers to sync and then add the new password to your device and check it works. If it does then move onto the next device if you have one.

When entering the settings, make sure that in the Outgoing server you do not use the "use same as incoming" for the email address and password. Enter them manually. If the above does not resolve the problem, when you change your BT password on an iPhone/iPad/Apple device it may only change for INCOMING mail.

To change the outgoing mail password you have to go into Settings; then scroll down to Passwords & Accounts or on older devices Mail, Contacts, Calendars. From there select the BT email account and select the account where it is listed under IMAP.

You will find the details for the account and can change the password for the Incoming server there, the outgoing mail server only shows SMTP and mail.btinternet.com You have to tap on that Primary Server in order to find where the Outgoing password is hidden so you can update it.

When setting up the email account on your device you are best to set it up manually, using "other" and ensure that you are using the correct settings as per this link.

Unless BT has changed something, your email accounts should show in you MyBT not EE. You should still have a MyBT so that you can manage the Email accounts. It is a free account but is needed to keep the email accounts from being downgraded to Basic.
