Hello,
I am not currently a BT user, but have had BT accounts and email addresses in the past and still use the email accounts.
When I left BT, I continued to use my email addresses to save notifying family and businesses etc of a new address.
However, I am contemplating deleting one of my BT addresses due to unwanted mail that I cannot block. The problem is that the address that I wish to delete is the primary address for the old account and BT ID.
1) Is it possible to delete this primaary address even though I can no longer remember my password and security questions for my BT ID?
2) Secondly, if it is possible to delete my primary address, would I still be able to use the other addresses that were created from within my primary account?
I would appreciate any advice on this issue with thanks, Michael

There is no longer a primary email account. Any BTMail email account you have is a stand alone email account albeit you may have used the "primary" email address as your BTID but as you will see in the following links you can change your BTID if you delete the one you are presently using as your BTID.
You would need to be able to access your MyBT with your BTID in order to delete the email account and change your BTID to one of the other email accounts that you have so that you can manage your email accounts.

If you can not access your MyBT you will need to contact BT Billing 0330.1234.150 and ask them to reset your password. They may want an account number for that which obviously if you are no longer a BT customer you will not be able to provide.
They may be able to send a PIN number to your mobile phone if you have one and it is the same as you gave BT when you were a customer.
Likewise if you gave an alternate email address when you were a customer, they could use that.
As an aside, if you receive a call shortly after the number is text to you purporting to be from BT and they are asking for the PIN treat it as suspect and do not give it to them unless you are 100% sure it is BT and even then I would not give it. They do not need it as they know who you are because they already have your mobile number. Scammers use a method utilising the PIN in order to get into your email account.
If you did not provide a mobile number or an email address they should be able to send a PIN number to your home address, provided it is the same as it was when you were a BT customer.
If you have moved address I have no idea how they will get around that if you are unable to provide the security answers.
Thank you very for such a full and informative reply. I will try to access MyBT tomorrow, but I have moved home since having the old BT account so may be a problem. I will update the post of my results whether successful or not.
Thanks again
Are you paying for BT premium mail given you are not a BT customer, if you have basic ‘webmail’ email privileges (so not paying ) then a lot of features will not be available, presumably you access your email via My BT , if you don’t and are still able to use an email client then that may disappear without warning unless , the basic email service doesn’t support clients .
The OP can not access his MyBT which is the problem because it means he can not manage the email account via it.
He does not need to logon to BMail via his MyBT. He can use the email logon page shown in the purple banner at the top of most BT.Com web pages.
I have successfully accessed MyBT account today and changed my log in username to one of my other BT email addresses.
I assume that once I have notified all relevant parties of a change of email address that I can safely delete my original email address from within MyBT (or maybe not) without it effecting the others
I guess that when I left BT all my email addresses became standalone addresses at basic level. This just begs the question about how to delete secondary BT email accounts if they are no longer associated with the original account?
Thank you very much for your assistance.
Hello @MickyC147.
Thanks for coming back here.

If your email accounts are not associated with you "main" BT account you may need to "gift" them and then set up a BTID for each of them then you should be able to access then via their own MyBT. If you can then access then you will be able to manage them.
