Error saying IMP/POP3 turned off foe email account

I have multiple email accounts that all work fine. One account however will not work on android mail apps. When trying to set up, it always says imap/pop3 is turned off for this account. I created a new sub email account and it works fine from the same device, I have searched online but cannot find out where to turn on/off imap!

As this is my sonds name and he can log in via web, I need to keep it - any suggestions?

Re: Error saying IMP/POP3 turned off foe email account

Hi, @Fgettins welcome to the community and thanks for posting, the IMAP/POP settings are changed on the device you're setting the email up in. Check out this link for more info on how to set up BT email in a client.

Thanks

Neil

Re: Error saying IMP/POP3 turned off foe email account

Thanks Neil, but the client is set up correctly. We proved that by creating a new account, which works perfectly. The original account is the one all his contacts and works have and would prefer to keep.

If the client is set up correctly, the issue must be with the other end!

Any other ideas?

Re: Error saying IMP/POP3 turned off foe email account

Check in My BT that the account hasn't been downgraded to Basic Mail which is not accessible via IMAP/POP3.

Is the email account associated with a current BT broadband account

Re: Error saying IMP/POP3 turned off foe email account

Have you tried setting the email account up in a different email app  or on a different device to see if it is an app problem?
