Before doing the above you could try moving the email addresses to your BT Broadband account.

It might work although I suspect it will just throw a wobbly.

Thanks for the help !  I'll try to move the addresses and if that fails call BT...

I'll report back here with the outcome.

I tried importing one of the email address to my account and the import worked, and I could now see said address in my active list.

But, in the options there was no option to give the address away (i.e. gift it).  However, there was an option "Add to BT ID" which I did. After this the option to give the address away was there which was successful !

So thanks again for the help and suggesions !!

It must have become detached as I thought. 

The wobbly which I thought it might throw up was that the system would already have it recorded against your BTID but obviously that was not the case.

Glad to hear it worked.
