Experience has told me not to expect answers to my problems, but you never know. It might be worth a try.
This has happened several times. I am typing away happily and suddenly the log in screen appears. I am not in my email any more. I have to log in again. I can then go to Drafts and recover most of what I had already typed, so it's not the end of the world. But why does this happen and will you (BT) please stop it happening? This is a fairly new gremlin, only a couple of months of so, and not every time. It's also strange that sometimes, when Is with the computer on, I don't have to log in, I can just go straight in to my email page. My previous problem with the font changing of its own accord is a lot better, but it still happens occasionally
Hi @Bert4545,
Thanks for visiting the BT Community
We aren't aware of any similar reports for this issue, but I have asked our email team to take a look. Could you please confirm which browser you use please to access your BT webmail and do you have any browser extensions installed, if so could you let us know which please.
Alex
Hi, thanks for offering to help. I am so untechnical you wouldn't believe it! I can never remember the difference between a browser and a search engine, and I don't use a smartphone. I use Firefox to get to my email. I don't have any idea if I have extensions or not, but probably not.
@Bert4545 Thanks for getting back to us. No problem I understand it can be confusing, Firefox would be your browser thank you.
It sounds like it is unlikely you have any active but if you can please check for any extensions. With Firefox open click the 3 line menu in the top right, then click Extensions and Themes, then click extensions it will show you if you have any enabled.
How often is it happening that you are being kicked out when typing a message?
Alex
It turns out I have a grammar and spelling checker extension, but that's the only one.
I haven't kept count on how often I'm chucked out in the middle of typing an email, I don't spend more than an hour or two on the internet each day, and not all that time is on emails. However, I would guess it's once each day, but not today, so far.
Hi @Bert4545
Thanks for coming back to us.
If you do have this happen again, could you please try using a different web browser like Microsoft Edge or any that isn't Firefox and let us know if you get the same problem?
Leanne.
Thanks very much @Bert4545
Leanne.
You may already be doing this but if not make sure you log out when you’re finished doing emails. Often people just let things time out themselves and it might just be hanging on to you a bit too long. Worth a try!
I didn't know that, Dode. I generally do not log out of email. I generally hit 'Sleep' when I have finsished for a while, but I hit 'Shut down' at the end of the day. It used to be, for years, that when I swithced the computer on first thing, I would have to log in: email address and password. But lately, for many moths now, mybe a year, I don't always have to log in. I hit my email tab and it goes straight to my Inbox. Could this have anything to do with being chucked out in the middle of typing an email? Whatever, it should not happen. It is a fault in the program if it will shut email down while I am typing.
