Which is why I posted message 7.
Well considering that those email addresses are now going to be on public show for possibly several more hours, i.e. the following day, if it were me, I'd discontinue using those email addresses immediately and have BT permanently delete the addresses as soon as some sort of email management/sorting/purging has taken place.
Set up a new account, such as Gmail, start moving the most recent important stuff over and do a mass dump of old mail. I cannot see why anyone outside of a business organisation could possibly have reason to retain around 87500 emails possibly amassed over several years. One would hope that there is some sort of technical mistake in the email count.
I have moved your post to a safe area until the email addresses are removed.
Hi there, for some reason or another, we know not why, this issue has disappeared, at least for the moment. All the emails have become available, we get them loaded, we can read them, and we can delete and/or organize them into folders or as otherwise required. Thank you for your interest in this issue and if anyone could shine a light on why this issue may have arisen in the first place, or even why it may have just gone away, it would be interesting at least, and informative too, to hear your views.
PS. Can anyone tell me where the folders created in the BT Mail app are actually established, is it on my PC somewhere, or are they on a BT server somewhere out there in the ether?
Once again, thank you all for your interest and advice on this issue, Thank you and take care, Andy....
As regards your question " if anyone could shine a light on why this issue may have arisen in the first place, or even why it may have just gone away, it would be interesting at least, and informative too, to hear your views." It is most likely that there was an issue with a BT mail server that has been resolved but we will never know because BT never share that information.
Your emails and folders are stored on the BT email servers hence the reason that you can access them from any where in the world using any device that can use webmail ( using a web browser) as well as the BTMail app.
You could download the emails if you use an email client/app that caters for that or set the email client/app up as a POP3 account protocol and store them on your device but you would only be able to access them with that device unless you also kept a copy on the BT server which would allow you to access them with webmail or an email client/app that is set up with the IMAP account protocol, which is what your BTMail app is using.
