Option to set Rules gone

Go to solution

With the new UI for BT mail when being accessed from my desktop the option to set and amend 'Rules' used to be available undder the settings menu. Under this new UI the 'Rules' option is no longer present from Settings.

Has the option to set 'Rules' been removed since I had a number of rules set to try and cut down on Spam email by automatically deleting certain emails. Also poses the question what happens if I need to alter any existing 'Rules' that I had set.

What new UI are you talking about? The last time it was changed was in 2024!

The option to set rules is still there in the 2024 version.

Logged on today and format changed radically. Now for instance (as an example) only displays top 10 emails by default whereas before all emails were displayed. I changed this to 50 by the way.

Under Settings - Mails settings options are just 'Display', ' Autoreply', 'Signature', 'Forward', 'Block List' and 'Allow list.

Rules option no longer present.

Noticed there is a 'Go to Rch-UI' at bottom left of page but this just gived a 404 error.

This is using 'Firefox' browser. Did wonder if it was something to do with Firefox so tried logging on with 'Microsoft Edge' and the same.

There are issues with Firefox since its last update.

Try another browser such as Chrome.

You are the only person to report those changes and issues so it does not appear to be a major problem.

Do not have Chrome, but as I say I tried using Microsoft Edge' and it's the same. Could possibly understand if it was just down to Firefox, but it certainly woulld not give the same problem using 'Microsoft Edge'.

I have just checked on Edge, Chrome and Firefox and all appears normal with none of the problems you have with the exception of entering email addresses on Firefox which has been documented in the following link.

Email, compose address not working - BT Community

Out of interest, where are you getting the option to change the number of emails that are displayed because as far as I am aware BTMail does not have that option.

Were you perhaps in "conversation" view and by toggling off this returned the non conversation view?

Nope. Just tried again by completely logging into the email from the BT site using Edge and no difference. Guess I'll try again tomorrow.

Interestingly this all occurred just after I tried to send an email under the 'old format' from Firefox and the error you mentioned occurred. Then logging out and in again resulted in this new format which meant I could then send emails but under this new format.

Trust it's nothing to do with switching over to EE early last year when I moved to fibre. Don't see why this should be a problem since EE and BT are in effect one and the same.

Regarding the number of emails displayed is when going into the Setting menu one of the settings is 'Display'. This gives a 'List' options to set any number between 1 and 50. Needless to say under the old format this option was not there. Makes me think perhaps some changes are being made at the moment.

It has nothing to do with EE. Your email account is still a BTMail account managed by BT.

I don't understand why you are refering to the "old format" and the "new" UI when nothing has been changed.

Your BTMail version should be MX_3.11.0.7. You can find the version number in the address bar once you are logged on.

Try turning your device off and on to see if that clears the problem.
