Sending emails

Go to solution

Hi, had issues with sending mail for ages but just never got round to sorting it out. Use Apple Mail by the way. I tried today to find settings and sort it out but think I've made it worse! Help!

Thanks, hope photos help.IMG_8159.jpegIMG_8160.jpeg

Re: Sending emails

Are you presently a BT Broadband customer or are you paying for your email through a BT Premium email account?

If neither of the above your email account may have been downgraded to a BTMail Basic account which can not be used with an email client or email app.

Re: Sending emails

Hi there @scooby66

Thanks for coming to the community.

Could you make sure you are using the same settings as shown in the BT Email server settings | BT Help page?

Are you able to send emails on any other device?

Thanks 🙂

Leanne.

Re: Sending emails

Hi there @Leanne_T

Thank you. Yes I can seem to send emails on my iPhone.

This is the info on the BT site:

I'm not sure if what I have is correct?

SMTP settings

Outgoing Mail Server: mail.btinternet.com

Port: 465 (this may not be automatically populated on selecting SSL, so you'll need to check)

SSL Encryption: Enabled (but not STARTTLS)

Authentication: PLAIN

Username: your email address including the @btinternet or @btopenworld.com part

Password: your btinternet or btopenworld password

Re: Sending emails

You need to post a screenshot of the server settings tab, but you appear to be trying to send using the receive settings.

Re: Sending emails

You've set the incoming (IMAP) port to 465 which is the outgoing (SMTP) port, it should be 993.

Your screenshot doesn't show what you have set the SMTP port to, but that should be 465.
