Spam Emails

Hi Folks I have had my btinternet email since the beginning. Have had some occasional spam/unwanted email over the years which mainly go to junk mail. however over the past two or three weeks have suddenly been bombarded with these. About 2/3rds  go into the junk box directly but the others are arriving in the inbox. I view my mail via my Ipad. I block some of them but they are now getting a long list and  also send them all to junk. I do not want to change email as it in embodied in all my activities and this would be a major problem. Have phoned Bt but they could not give much advice except to wait it out. is there anything else I can do please.

I think I may have inadvertently blocked an address I need. It does not show on the IPad blocked list but also followed the advice of checking directly on BT Mail. However the Blocked Sender is not listed  s I cannot check. Any advice appreciated Thank you

Re: blocked email addresses

It is not clear whether you mean the option is not there or the relevant address is not there.

If the former, try a different browser

If the latter, ensure the whole domain hasn't been blocked.

Re: blocked email addresses

Please do not post the same issue on more than one thread it only cause duplication of effort.

As has been pointed out you should check that the domain, the part after @ has not been blocked as well as the actual email address.

As regards the spam, you are wasting your time blocking them. The email addresses that you are blocking will almost certainly be spoofed to appear as genuine when in fact they are a different email address that is constantly changing.

Make sure you are not opening the emails, ensure that you do not have any pictures in the email opening/ downloading automatically and do not unsubscribe from any of them as this will tell the spammers that they are spamming a genuine email address.

The spammers will move on after a short time or the BT spam filters will eventually catch up meanwhile if you suspect an email is spam just delete it without doing anything else.

For further information see link for BT's take on it.
