Strange things happening

Go to solution

Hello!

I'm having problems with BT email,  I sent out an email on Thursday evening to a group. of 12 people.

10 of the group have replies that I have received, but two of the replies were received by others in the group but not by me. Added to this I spoke to someone today about an order I had  sent, he posted it yesterday and sent me a confirming email. I have never received the email, I have checked my spam box and nothing. Then again I have had a couple of people telling me they have received emails from me , about photographs. I have not sent these, My email was hi-jacked a couple of weeks ago, but that was all sorted. I have checked the settings, there is no strange address and no auto-forwarding set. Quite a puzzle?

When your email account was hacked the hackers will have harvested your contacts details and may now be sending them emails from an account that they have spoofed to appear as though it is from you.

Your contacts should be very wary of any emails purporting to be from you.

This will be a pain to do and take some time but I would suggest you stop using the hacked email address and set up a new one and once that has been done tell all your contacts to delete any emails received from the hacked account.

Hello!

I have told all my contacts to ignore the spurious messages, what is more concerning is not receiving emails, especially when I know they have been sent.

Did you check that there are no rules set up?

Check your Blocked Senders list for blocked addresses and domains.

Log onto your BTMail account using a browser, not an email client/app, and then click on your username at the right hand side. Select "Settings" then go to the left hand side and select "Mail". Scroll down and click on "Blocked Senders".

Scroll down the list until you find any you want to unblock and select them. Click on the small "Trash" symbol at the right hand side. It will only delete the email address or domain from the blocked senders list not your contacts list.

Than you, for the information, I have checked my block senders list and the addresses are not in it. Anything else I should check, please.

Did you check there are no Rules set up.

Did the senders of the emails that have gone missing send using Reply To to an email you sent or was it a fresh new email they were sending?

Just checked no rules set up, no blocked senders in the list. No auto-forwarding, no auto-answer.

Where now?????

Ask the senders whose email did not get through to send you a fresh new email to see if that gets through. This will rule in or out that there is a problem specific to their address being blocked by BT.

What email domain are they using?
