btinternet.com email address

I'm sure they are wrong- but

I very reliable source has informed me that BT is going to charge £5 per month to keep a btinternet.com email address, even though you have a BT/EE broadband contract

I am aware that if you leave BT you can pay to keep your email address, £7.50 month

This rumour is new to me, but it came from a trusted source

Can anybody please confirm that my reliable source is wrong

Thanks Melv

Your reliable source isn't as reliable as they think they are. Ask them where they got the idea from.

Re: btinternet.com email address

And how did your trusted source come about this snippet of information?

If you leave BT and migrate to EE your BTMail email address goes with you as a Standard email account. It is still managed through your MyBT and it is free.

If you leave BT and go to any another ISP you keep your BTMail account however it gets "downgraded" to a FREE BTMail Basic account. This can only be used with a web browser and not with email clients or email apps.

If you move to another ISP and want to retain your BTMail function of being able to use it with an email client or email app you can subscribe to a BT Premium email account for £7.50 per month. This in effect keeps your BTMail the same as a Standard email account.
