BT introduced recently the 2FA to their email system when you log in using BT mail app or web mail. there is no opt out. Supposedly if you use same method to access BT Mail then system learns and should stop 2FA
you don't need 2FA if you use a third party app like Thunderbird or Bluemail to access your BT mail
