iPad email settings

Go to solution

I'm having trouble re-adding BT email account to my iPad (Ios18)  - I don't see where to put in the settings 993 etc.  All I wanted to do was to change the password but the Apple community said I had to delete the account and reinstall.

Anyone succeeded with this?

To set up the email account on your iPad:-

When you delete the account you must switch off and restart your phone.

Go to your iPad home screen and tap Settings.

Scroll down to Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

Tap Add Account.

Scroll down and tap Other.

Tap Add Mail Account.

Put the name you want people to see when they get mail from you in the Name field.

Enter your username in the Address field. For example, firstname.lastname@btinternet.com

Enter your password in the Password field.

In the Description field enter the name you want to use to identify the account.

Tap Next. If you get an error message at this point, tap OK.

Make sure that IMAP is selected at the top of the screen.

In the Incoming Mail Server section, change the Host Name to mail.btinternet.com

Now enter 993 in the Server port and set SSL to on.

Then scroll down to the Outgoing Mail Server section and change the Host Name to mail.btinternet.com

Now enter 465 in the Server port and set SSL to on.

Make sure the correct username and password are entered.

Tap Save.

Thanks.  I remember this but I 'm not getting the chance to put in Port numbers etc.  It asks if I want to try without SSL.  I vaguely recall that last time I had to put in a wrong password, which then opened up the other boxes.

Re: iPad email settings

If when trying to set up an account you enter an incorrect password and let the iPad try to verify the account it should trigger the option to set the account up manually where you will then be able to input the settings yourself rather than the "auto wizard" doing it.

Thanks - that's what I did last time this happened (as you suggested) - it worked, I'll try again.
