Answer phone issues

Since moving to digital voice using a BT adaptor  my answer phone is not working.  It is a fairly old phone - a Binatone Caprice 600.  Can anyone help please.

Is it possible that the DV 1571 answering system is answering the call before your own phone?  If so you need to increase number rings before 1571 answers call and at same time reduce the number of rings on your existing phone
