BT FTTP and Digital Voice Change Smart hub2

Hi I have BT FTTP and digital voice all hooked up to the Smart Hub2 (I believe is the model)  Anyways without going into detail I believe my hub may be defective.  I have a spare in the loft a friend gave me after changing their FTTP to a new provider. Before I go and find that and switch them over, I realise I will have to de register and reconnect my DV phones which I know how to do.  My real question….I wanted to know if the DV line will automatically be active on the switched over router or does it involve contacting support and have them do something on my account to register the spare replacement hub or something else?  Trying to understand how the DV line information gets to the hub.  Is it stored on the ONT or directly supplied from my BT  account or require an engineer visit?

A configuration change should be uploaded automatically to the BT Smart Hub 2. It may take a while for this to happen.

What makes you think your hub is defective?

Also before you switch over - if you do - remember you can back up any contacts you've stored so you can simply reload them into the replacement hub.
