BT answerphone with Halo 3

I am intending to go for the Halo 3 upgrade which includes the DV with Alexa handset.  You kind people have told me that I can still use my cordless BT handset by plugging it directly into the Home Hub. My question is will the answerphone still operated on this handset or will both handsets be reliant on the 1571 service?

if you have trouble with this then yes it will work but read the section about setting number of rings
