BT got order wrong - will Openreach be allowed to do the work?

Go to solution

We have two phone lines in the property, on separate numbers. I ordered a master socket move for line A. Unfortunately BT got it wrong, and booked it for line B instead.

I have spoken to BT's connections team, and they have put a note on the order to inform the engineer that the work is to be done on line A and not line B. That was the best they could do - what they could not do was change the order itself.

They also couldn't tell me whether the Openreach engineer, if he arrives with a job sheet specifying line B, will actually be allowed to work on line A at all, or whether I will have to send him away without him doing anything, and then re-book the order all over again. I can't get clarification from Openreach, as they can't be contacted.

Anyone had a similar experience?

I doubt the engineer will care one jot which socket he/she moves, give him/her tea and biscuits.

They will probably ask you which socket it is that requires moving in any case rather than try to verify for themselves.
