Why does my BT8500 cut out mid call it has new batteries

Welcome to the BT Community 

Is the handset losing power/turning off during the call or the handset stays on but just the call itself is dropping? 

Is it happening on every call or is it intermittent?

The calls drop intermittently.  The screen goes back to the start .  I've had the line checked and no faults found. I've just spoken with BT agent who says the base is faulty and they no longer make this model so I've ordered a new set

If by that you mean the phone reboots with a BT logo, you almost certainly just need new batteries.
