Call Protect and caller announce

  • Prior to having digital voice my BT phone with caller protect used to have caller announce which used to stop a lot of nuisance calls. The Digital calling does not have this facility which means we are now receiving more nuisance calls. I find this most frustrating as we are not in the phone book so wonder where they obtain our number from. I know it is possible to block these calls but would prefer the system to do this for me by requesting callers who are not in my phone book to announce who they are as this would make spammers to hang up. Most recent phishing/spam calls have been people saying they are from BT when the calls were  answered. The latest was from area code 01133

@Swaddie-72

Which phone did you use before, and what is stopping you from using it again? Just plug it into the socket on the back of the Smart Hub 2.

Spam calls are made at random, so only a phone with a whitelist of numbers, and an "announce" mode, is going to be any good.

Re: Call Protect and caller announce

Hi Keith
The old phone did not work with digital so BT provided digital phones. The old phone was a BT phone with a whitelist and caller announce facility and as it did not work on digital it was disposed of.
Is it possible to block calls using wild cards (*) after the std code?

The old phone would have worked just fine, the hub has a built in ATA which presents as the green socket at the rear of the hub.
