Can i get caller id NOT call protect on a basic account?

Go to solution

Hi I’m looking for some help,

my aunt has a bt  basic account which dates back to 1980 (didn’t know this was possible).

Now a bit of background my aunt is 81 so not interested  in anything other than what she has. The reason for wanting caller ID is she was nicely scammed last year out her life savings, over the phone, luckily as we were dealing with this our local trading standards department had an advert on our local radio station wanting vulnerable people in the area to have a call blocker put in there house, i got in contact and the unit was installed within the week, fast forward to this week, phone rings and a nice young man telling her utter rubbish trying to get her to pay for things (she did not do it ) so called trading standards about the call as per the deal but only to find out they cant look in to the call as we don’t have caller ID so the numbers are not registered, i explained all this over the phone to both BT agents but again sorry cant add caller id to your account

however what they did offer was take out a NEW contract at over £20 a month and caller ID is free with that, NO THANK YOU ! She only pays £19 a quarter yup i know cheep but its only a line she has and doesn't call out emergency only really, so i have looked through a few other posts but there is plenty of the same question but no visible answers

i hope someone can point me in the right direction TIA
