Digital Phone - Impending switchover ?

On signing-on to my BT account today  I noticed that the front web page was sporting a banner notice (In Yellow) advising that digital switchover was imminent. I hadn't seen this before on my account and so wondered whether this was specific to me or a general "All-points" message.

Coincidentally, I notice that the Smart Hub 2 firmware had been updated yet again on the night of 14/15th February 2023 (Previously updated in July 2022) to  V.038.00.10147-BT. Was this connected to the yellow banner message I thought ?

Any ideas on this, gratefully accepted.

If this is an indication that my line is going full digital in the near future, what happens to the "Headless" DECT Tx/Rx by which I connect the upstairs bedroom phone to the line into the BT wall socket downstairs. Is DECT compatible with the VOIP signal ?

I've also just noticed that the handset symbol on the opening page of the Smart Hub 2 web-page is greyed-out and states its "Not Configured". So I presume, that yellow banner or no yellow banner nothing happens until that gets tweaked . . and that I will get an E-mail immediately prior ?

Looks like I've options then (My Broadband is still FTTC):-

Keep the existing third party DECT Two plug Tx/Rx system as long as its plugged into the green socket on the back of the Smart Hub 2

Or

Remove the third party DECT plugs and substitute a BT DECT Plug for upstairs and register it with the Smart Hub downstairs.

I should also point out that my in-house broadband network extends upstairs, courtesy of two Devolo powerline plugs to another desktop. I also have a spare BT  black disk. I wonder if either of these could be used to connect the two phones base units up stairs (Both at the moment use the  third party DECT and I'm keen to de-clutter).

Hi @NAROBS   Your power line connectors and complete WiFi disc have absolutely nothing to do with digital voice, which simply uses the phone connection or DECT base station in the Smart Hub 2. Digital voice does not use WiFi or Ethernet.

Not to worry, I presume you will still be able  use the phone (Or Video component) of Skype, what's app or similar via the BT Disc/Wi-Fi ?/Devolo powerline ?

BT missed a trick ? Impossible (Said in a French accent).

I'm not sure that it provides an answer to your actual question? Is the yellow banner generic or specific? (I ended up here because I have same question).

Thanks - I don't use it at all so that's the end of my landline (I don't use the SH or even taken them out of the box).

I had that Banner for quite a while and nothing has happened yet. It's disappeared now and still nothing has happened. I wish they'd hurry up, I need something else to play with.😀

My parents' and my paper bills have shown a box on the front page for the last few months with the following within:

Changes to your landline
We'll be moving our existing phone lines to a new digital home phone service. It's an update all providers will be making across the UK. When it's time to switch we'll be in touch. During the switch to your home phone service, we'll give you all the information you need, and we'll be with you every step of the way.

Hmm, I wouldn't bet on that last sentence!

I rang BT to ask if our area is due to be switched imminently. They replied no, this is just a generic message that's being applied to all bills. I hope they'll give at least three months' notice, not least because my parents have their broadband with EE. Someone on here suggested that they will be forced to have just one provider after digital switchover, although I really don't see why such a restriction must apply with two sister companies!? 😠
