Re: Elderly over 90 years old

I would probably do nothing in your position and change nothing as DV will come eventually to everyone even someone who is 110 and it seems to be moving slowly. If you change things or alter a BT package or resign a new contract or change provider DV seems to come a lot sooner. I am also dreading Digital Voice and we were told London was moving to it by end of 2023 but that has not happened.

Someone posted an online link https://www.bt.com/help/here-for-you above to register a person with additional needs so I suppose that might be worth doing.

If the people just have a landline and no broadband in theory once they are move to DV BT will send them a new modem (or in my case i have broadband too but my modem is old so they will send me a hub 2) and to start with the existing corded phone will plug into the back of the new modem.   there will be another complications but that appears to be the essence of it.

Thanks

I'm already registered with BT (as is my wife and neighbour) but it doesn't seem to have made any difference over the  last few years

I can't see the modem helping much as presumably without electricity it doesn't function soi you can use it for phone calls either

As usual we'll have to wait for things to hit the fan before someone finds a sensible solution

I’m in total agreement with you about this appalling situation and it’s a total disgrace that BT themselves can let it come to a point that we have to bring this to their attention.

it seems that throughout BT’s long history of providing this country with in home/national telecommunications and services to all their customers who financially supported them and enabled them to grow into  what they exist as today. Well, isn’t it marvellous how all those supporting loyal customers from BT’s past are now ….. not even being recognised!!! Hence the over 70’s pensioners of the uk … please tell me how you disregard the loyalty that helped you grow and not even recognise it.

just a thought , but to me it’s not just a thought. Because from now on I’ll make a point of not acquiring  any serviceprovider that is associated with BT.

It’s just not on people, wether we have elderly loved ones or not. As this post I’m replying to stated … what about the elderly who don’t have anyone to help them …?

we all need to take a minute and think!!! That’ll be us soon!! But give them a bit of respect!! 🤷‍♂️
