Re: Free supply and installation of a Smart Hub 2

Go to solution

And as also stated , you can turn off the SH2 WiFi anyway , DV telephony via a SH2 is not WiFi it’s DECT if connected remotely or a wired phone connected directly to the hub , but it’s very unlikely that this will be offered initially…very long term if FTTP is available and someone gets an ultimatum to move to FTTP or be cut off then broadband option will be the only one available, but that is many years away .

FYI , A PDPL isn’t just an ATA located at the exchange, but for simplicity it can be regarded that way , the important thing to note is that nothing changes locally , no power requirements, no router to connect , in fact the change when it happens will be barely perceptible, the customer given prior notice that service will be unavailable for a few hours on whatever day the change is made , that’s it , so in your case, the real question is wether to preemptively move to a single provider that will be  much cheaper and remove any uncertainty or wait to be advised when the telephone service will change , that will be before the end of January 2027 , so still potentially a year away
