I've been given a pair of these handsets but I don't use BT as my broadband provider. I do however have a pair of BT whole home discs which work really well. Am I going to be able to get the handsets onto the home network without SH2?

No, they are DECT, and need to connect to the BT Smart Hub 2.

No, the handsets are DECT not wifi and are only compatible with BT's Digital Voice system.
