Home Phone Adapter red light

We have a working Home Phone Adapter.  I bought a second adapter for elsewhere in the house, but when trying to register it I get a red light, after the yellow/blue flashing stops.  I have 3  Home Phone Plus handsets registered to the Smart Hub 2.

according to the spec you can register 5 devices to the SH2 - is it possible adapter is to far from the SH2

Nope. The Adapter is right next to the SH2 for registration.  I wondered if another device is taking one of the 5 slots,  but don't know how to identify them in the Hub manager.  I understand the Hub acts as a DECT base station, and the phones do not connect by WiFi.

Thank you  imjolly.  With your extra input I have worked this out.  I think I must have used an extra registration slots when registering the handset - I was probably impatient!  So all 5 slote were taken before i tried to connect the second HPA.  

I could not delete the handsets from the hub using the method of logging into the Hub, but in fact they can be deregistered  by using the handset themselves -  I don't think I read this anywhere.
