If BT Router is not used, how long will Call Divert settings function for?

Go to solution

Hello,

I welcome any advice.

I was recently moved over to BT VOIP, previously I had Call Divert set up for calls to be redirected to my mobile number, until such time that I had a working landline phone.

I temporarily setup the BT Router so that I can set up Call Divert again as the settings were lost during the transfer, this was no real fuss. Once this was arranged, I switched back to my own router, assuming the settings would be retained for the foreseeable future.

My issue is that I was moved over to VOIP on the 23rd April, however a few days later (unknown when), the Call Divert function stopped working.

My question is, how often must I connect the BT Router and re-setup Call Divert to maintain this service?

Thanks in advance for any answers.

Chris

Hmm, that seems odd, call divert should be permanent until cancelled.

Yes, you would hope so, wouldn't you. I did do a little bit of research before posting, and it appeared that the BT Router was independent from Call settings changes.

Luckily I have a spare mobile, so I can ring my landline from that every day, to ensure it's redirecting properly. I would prefer not to have to check though.

I can only assume that there is a fault causing the diversion to be cancelled.

If it gets cancelled again, post back and we'll get the mods involved to investigate.

Just a thought. It shouldn't make any difference, but make sure multi call is disabled with the DV handset.

I'll certainly keep this post, posted. I hope it's a temporary fault at the very least, I do get a lot of calls to the landline number. In part I find it helpful when registering with a company, prevents me getting text messages.

Sorry, I can't see a way to quote other peoples comments. In answer to this, the handset is turned off when the BT Router is unplugged.

For some bizarre reason best known to BT, the quote function only works on the desktop version of the forum.

What I meant was the multi call functionality can only be disabled via the Digital Voice handset. Make sure it is before turning off the handset.

Oh that's weird, I'm on the desktop version, I've done it manually this time with the quote button.

I'll definitely check that, thank you. It's a fairly basic DECT handset, but I will look.
