Hi
I started a broadband and landline changeover from NOW tv to Virgin Media but there was a problem with the VM installation and order was cancelled. When I returned to NOW they did not reconnect my original landline number. When I contact NOW they say I have lost the number and can't get it back. Its less than 2 weeks since the cancellation and reconnect. I note there have been other similar posts on this forum but I can't seem to find a solution...can anyone help

As you are not a BT Retail customer, this forum cannot help. BT does not allocate phone numbers.
The two weeks you have read about, only applies to BT Retail customers moving BT numbers to BT Digital Voice.
You need to raise the issue with Now, or perhaps post on their forum.
