that looks like just an extension socket and master socket must be elsewhere. extension sockets are responsibility of homeowner so you can remove if you want - you won't get electrocuted
That appears to be an extension socket rather that a master socket ,so removal should not be an issue , obviously if the cable is still connected at the master socket consumer panel ( assuming it’s was originally provided correctly ) and you don’t intend to recover the cable as well as the socket, make sure the remaining cable is left with no ‘short circuits’ on it .
